There were two brothers living in a house. At a young age, they lost both their mother and father. Bearing this great sorrow, they worked very hard in their fields. After a few years, the elder brother got married and, with two children, had a family of four. Although the younger brother was not yet married, the harvest was always divided equally between them.
One day, while working in the field, the younger brother thought, “It is not right that we divide everything equally. I am alone, and my needs are not that many. My brother has a big family, and his needs are greater.” With this thought in mind, that very night he quietly carried a sack of grain from his store and placed it in his brother’s field.
At the same time, the elder brother also thought, “It is not fair that we share everything equally. I have my wife and children to take care of me, but my brother has no family yet. Who will look after him in the future? Therefore, I should give him more.” With this thought, every night he too carried a sack of grain and placed it in his younger brother’s field.
This continued for many days, but both brothers were puzzled as to why their grain never seemed to decrease. One day, while they were on their way to each other’s fields, they met. That’s when they realized what had been happening all this time. Overwhelmed with joy, they hugged each other and wept.
Moral:
Good deeds done with a pure heart never cause loss!
Always remain content – whatever you have is enough.
The one who has joy in his heart possesses everything.
