The Sage and the Mouse

In a forest lived a sage. For many days, a mouse had also been living near his hut. This mouse loved the sage deeply. Whenever the sage was immersed in meditation, the mouse would sit nearby and joyfully listen to his devotional hymns. Eventually, the mouse himself began worshipping God.
However, he was always frightened and anxious due to dogs, cats, eagles, and crows. One day, the sage felt great compassion for the little creature. He thought, “This poor mouse lives in constant fear—why not turn him into a lion so that he can roam freely and fearlessly?”

The sage was accomplished and possessed great divine powers. With his spiritual strength, he turned the mouse into a lion, thinking, “Now this mouse will no longer fear any other animal and can wander boldly throughout the forest.”

But as soon as the mouse became a lion, his entire mindset changed. He began roaming the forest fearlessly. All the animals now feared him and began greeting him with respect. He was praised everywhere.

However, the sage knew very well that this was still just a mouse—not a real lion. Therefore, he continued treating him like a mouse. This did not sit well with the mouse-turned-lion. He thought, “If the sage continues treating me as a mere mouse, other animals will also begin disrespecting me, despite the honor they currently show.”

So the mouse thought, “Why don’t I just kill the sage? Once he’s gone, no one will dare call me a mouse again.”
With this thought, he charged toward the sage in anger.
But the sage, seeing the lion’s furious approach, immediately understood his intentions.

Angered by his arrogance, the sage used his divine powers to turn the lion back into a mouse to shatter his pride.

Moral of the Story:
Friends, we should never harm those who have helped us, no matter how powerful we become. We must always remember the people who stood by us in difficult times, and we should never forget our past.
Had the mouse remembered his true identity, he would not have had to become a mouse again.
