One day, a man was walking in his garden when he noticed a butterfly’s cocoon hanging from a branch. He began to observe it daily. One day, he saw a small hole appear in the cocoon. He sat and watched for hours as the butterfly struggled to force its body through that little hole.
It tried hard for a long time but eventually stopped moving, as if it had given up.
The man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped the cocoon open to make the hole bigger, allowing the butterfly to emerge easily. And indeed, it came out effortlessly.
But its body was swollen and its wings were shriveled.
He continued to watch the butterfly, expecting its wings to expand and support its body so it could fly. But that didn’t happen. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around, unable to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and haste, didn’t understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required to get through the tiny opening were nature’s way of forcing fluid from the butterfly’s body into its wings, so it would be ready to fly once it was free.
Moral:
Sometimes, struggle is exactly what we need in life. If we were allowed to go through life without any obstacles or effort, we would be crippled. We wouldn’t be as strong as we could be. We might never fly.
So when life brings difficult moments, look at them with a positive mindset—they’re preparing you for the flight ahead.
Always stay happy – What you have is enough.
The one who is content at heart – possesses everything.
