The Way You See Things

One day, a wealthy man took his son on a trip to a village.
He wanted to show his son how fortunate and rich they were, and how poor the village people were in comparison.
They spent a few days on a farm with a poor family and then headed back home.

On the way back, the father asked his son:
“Did you see how poor those people were and how they live?”
The son replied:
“Yes, I saw.”

“We have one dog, but they have four.”

“We have a small swimming pool, but they have an entire river.”

“We have a few expensive lanterns imported from abroad, while they have billions of stars lighting up their nights.”

“We buy our food from the market, but they grow their own food in their fields.”

“We are a small family of five, but their whole village is one big family.”

“We have a small garden to walk around in, and they have the whole open earth that never ends.”

“We build high walls around our home for protection, and they have good friends to keep them safe.”

The wealthy man was speechless after hearing this.
The son concluded,
“Thank you, Dad, for showing me how poor we really are.”

Moral:
This story teaches us that our perspective shapes how we see the world.
What we consider as wealth or poverty is often just a matter of how we choose to look at things.

Always stay happy – what you have is enough.
One who is content in heart has everything in life.
